Who We Are

Pinoy WISE (Worldwide Initiative for Investment Savings and Entrepreneurship) movement started as a financial education program of Atikha in partnership with migrant organisations in its International Fund for Agricultural Development Financing Facility for Remittance (IFAD FFR) project on “Mobilizing Migrant Resources towards Agriculture Development”.pinoywise-movement

The financial education and investment mobilisation program became successful in changing behaviour of migrants towards saving and investing and it was adopted as by other partner organizations. Pinoy WISE became a network of national and local government units, migrant and family organizations, NGOs, cooperatives and other financial institutions and private sector that promotes financial education, investment and entrepreneurship to ensure that migration will contribute to the development of the Overseas Filipinos, their families and communities. From a project it was transformed into Pinoy WISE movement. Atikha acts as the convenor of Pinoy WISE and the co-convenor is Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines (ULAP).

The member organisations of the Pinoy WISE movement are national and local governments, migrant organizations, NGOs, cooperatives, faith-based organisations and Pinoy WISE International Chapters in source provinces such as Batangas, Laguna, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Tarlac, Ifugao, Agusan del Sur and Surigao del Sur and destination countries such as Italy, UAE, Qatar, Singapore and Hong Kong.pinoywise

On 23 November 2012, the Pinoy WISE movement was launched at the Abu Dhabi National Theater with Philippine Ambassador to UAE , Her Excellency Ambassador Grace Relucio Princesa as one of its champions. In 2013, Pinoy WISE was also brought to Qatar through the assistance of the Philippine Embassy under the leadership of His Excellency Ambassador Crescente Relacion and this was followed by organising of Pinoy WISE in Germany, Singapore and Hong Kong. Pinoy WISE International is also being organised in the provinces of Laguna, Cavite, Batangas, Quezon, Rizal, Oriental Mindoro, Tarlac, Bohol, Ifugao, Surigao del Sur and Agusan del Sur.

Pinoy WISE International is a SEC registered organisation of overseas Filipinos in destination countries and source provinces where Atikha and Pinoy WISE movement partners are implementing economic and social services.pinoywise-intl

After the Family and Income Management Training, the overseas Filipinos started organising into Pinoy WISE International to continue on the promotion of savings, investment and entrepreneurship to other overseas Filipinos. Pinoy WISE International is a self-help group of Overseas Filipinos and their families who decided to bond together to be able to assist each other in implementing social and economic program that will ensure the achievement of migration goals.

Pinoy WISE International organises Pinoy WISE International chapters of Overseas Filipinos and their families at the level of their municipality, province or organisation to be able to leverage their resources with government and other agencies in creating and managing social enterprises.

Pinoy WISE International links with member organisations of the Pinoy WISE movement that provides various trainings, counselling, investment and business opportunities, and business coaching.

1. Objectives
   To provide financial education and encourage the overseas Filipinos and their families in sending province and receiving country to save and invest to enable successful reintegration;
2. To assist the Overseas Filipinos (OFs) and families to address family and other social issues that cause family estrangement and drain their resources;
3. To link overseas Filipinos (OFs) and their families to business opportunities, business advisory services and concrete savings and investment programs of selected cooperatives, microfinance institutions, social enterprises, banks and other financial institutions in their provinces of origin;
4. To ensure that migrant investment and business opportunities promote gender equality, does not harm the environment and contribute to the development of the overseas Filipinos, their families and communities.
